Türkiye’s Air Travel Booms: 108.8 Million Passengers in First Half of 2025
Istanbul | July 10, 2025 – Türkiye’s air passenger traffic soared to 108.8 million in the first half of 2025, fueled by strong international demand and vibrant tourism activity, according to Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu.
“This number exceeds the combined population of 17 EU countries,” said Uraloglu.
Key Stats (January–June 2025):
- Domestic passengers: 46.6 million
- International passengers: 62.2 million
- Aircraft traffic (incl. overflights): 1.1 million
- Cargo traffic: 2.3 million tons
- YoY air traffic increase: +5.7%
Istanbul’s Airports Dominate
- Istanbul Airport: 39.1 million passengers
- 8.1M domestic
- 30.9M international
- Sabiha Gökçen Airport: 22.1 million passengers
- 9.6M domestic
- 12.5M international
🔸 Combined Istanbul total: 61.2 million passengers
Tourism Hubs Welcome 23.9 Million
Türkiye’s major tourism airports in Izmir, Antalya, Mugla, and Alanya served:
- 8.5 million domestic passengers
- 15.4 million international passengers
