Türkiye and Pakistan Vow to Deepen Cooperation Across Key Sectors

Efforts to boost cooperation between Türkiye and Pakistan—especially in trade and energy—are gaining momentum, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized during a meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Azerbaijan on Friday.

The leaders met on the sidelines of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit in Khankendi, where they also discussed bilateral ties alongside regional and global developments, Türkiye’s Communications Directorate announced on X.

Shared Commitment on Gaza

President Erdogan stressed the importance of continuing joint efforts to stop Israel’s attacks on Gaza, to secure a ceasefire, and to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid to the region.

Strengthening Ties in Vital Areas

According to a statement from the Pakistani premier’s office, the two leaders reaffirmed their strong resolve to further elevate relations across all key domains. They underscored the need to intensify collaboration in vital sectors such as trade, defence, energy, connectivity, and investment.

Prime Minister Sharif also reiterated Pakistan’s “unwavering commitment to working hand in hand with Türkiye to promote their shared objectives of peace, stability, and sustainable development throughout the region.”

President Erdogan was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Family and Social Services Minister Mahinur Ozdemir Goktas, Trade Minister Omer Bolat, Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu, Communications Director Fahrettin Altun, and Chief Foreign Policy and Security Adviser Akif Cagatay Kilic.
