Türkiye Condemns Israeli Strikes on Damascus, Says They Undermine Syria’s Stability

Türkiye Condemns Israeli Strikes on Damascus, Warns of Threat to Syria’s Peace Process

Türkiye has strongly denounced recent Israeli air strikes on central Damascus, accusing Israel of deliberately sabotaging Syria’s fragile path toward peace and normalization. In a statement released Sunday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said the attacks jeopardize what it described as a “historic opportunity” for the Syrian people to restore order and reintegrate with the global community.

“The latest attack by Israel on central Damascus — following its previous strikes in southern Syria — is a clear act of sabotage against Syria’s efforts to establish peace and stability,” the statement said.

Ankara called on all international actors who advocate for a political solution in Syria to support de-escalation efforts and constructive engagement with Damascus.

The condemnation comes amid heightened tensions, as Israel has intensified its air campaign across Syria. Recent strikes have reportedly targeted sensitive military and government sites, including the Syrian army’s General Staff Complex and areas near the presidential compound. Syrian state media reported injuries from the latest attacks.

In southern Syria’s Sweida province, Israeli air raids coincided with a Syrian military operation aimed at quelling deadly clashes between armed Druze and Bedouin groups that have left at least 30 people dead.

Türkiye’s statement reflects growing regional concern that continued Israeli military action may derail Syria’s slow progress toward political reconciliation and undermine efforts to stabilize post-conflict zones.
