TRT Balkan Honored with Two “Nino Ćatić” Awards for Srebrenica Reporting

July 10, 2025 – Sarajevo
TRT Balkan has been recognized with two prestigious “Nino Ćatić” journalism awards, celebrating outstanding reporting on the legacy of the Srebrenica genocide.

The award in the blog/vlog category was presented to producer Aida Kauković for her piece titled “Ramadan in Potočari: Then and Now”, while Haris Domazet received the best TV report award for his work “354 Days of Srebrenica.”

Now in its sixth year, the award honors journalistic efforts that shed light on the human stories and historical truths of Srebrenica. TRT Balkan’s recognition reflects the network’s ongoing commitment to ethical journalism and preserving collective memory.

Honoring a Journalist’s Legacy

The award is named after Nihad Nino Ćatić, a journalist from Srebrenica whose final radio report on July 10, 1995 captured the horrors unfolding during the genocide. His remains have never been recovered, but his voice continues to inspire journalists today.

Since 2019, the “Biti novinar” Association has presented the award to encourage journalistic integrity and to ensure that the events of Srebrenica are never forgotten.
