Israel Conducts New Air Strikes in Damascus Countryside

Syrian state media report that Israeli warplanes have carried out multiple strikes near Al-Kiswah, a town in the Damascus countryside.

Al-Ikhbariya TV confirmed the attacks but did not provide details on casualties or damage. The broadcaster later reported additional airstrikes in the same area, noting “intensive” Israeli overflights above Damascus.

The recent assault follows airstrikes on Al-Kiswah the previous day that reportedly killed six Syrian soldiers. Syrian media also reported Israeli incursions into the Quneitra countryside in southern Syria, despite international calls to respect Syrian sovereignty.

Since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime in December 2024, Israel has stepped up attacks across Syrian territory. Hundreds of strikes have reportedly targeted military infrastructure, including fighter jets, missile systems, and air defense units.

Additionally, Israel has expanded its presence in the Golan Heights, occupying parts of the demilitarized buffer zone in violation of the 1974 disengagement agreement.
