Erdogan: Türkiye Hopes Baku-Yerevan Peace Accord Will Address Azerbaijan’s Legitimate Concerns
Türkiye closely following comprehensive peace talks between Azerbaijan, Armenia, President Erdogan says in meeting with Azerbaijani counterpart Aliyev.

Azerbaijan’s rightful interests, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said during talks with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
Speaking on Friday on the sidelines of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit in Khankendi, Erdogan emphasized that Türkiye is closely monitoring the ongoing comprehensive negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, according to a statement from Türkiye’s Communications Directorate shared on X.
Yerevan and Baku launched peace discussions following the second Karabakh conflict in 2020. Azerbaijan solidified its control over Karabakh in September 2023.
A model of solidarity
During their meeting, Erdogan and Aliyev also reviewed bilateral relations and broader regional and international developments. The Turkish president highlighted that the strong solidarity between Türkiye and Azerbaijan serves as a model for others.
Erdogan further stressed the importance of deepening cooperation in areas such as energy and transportation. He also welcomed the June 24 ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel, noting that achieving lasting peace in the region would benefit all parties.
