Erdogan tells Pezeshkian: Türkiye backs Iran’s nuclear dialogue

At a meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan restated Ankara’s firm support for Tehran.

Türkiye views Iran’s nuclear dialogue as advantageous, Erdogan told Pezeshkian, highlighting Ankara’s ongoing commitment to Tehran on the issue.

According to Türkiye’s Communications Directorate, the two leaders also addressed bilateral cooperation and discussed regional and global developments.

Erdogan stressed that collaboration between Türkiye and Iran, especially in the energy field, brings reciprocal benefits for both nations.

The pair also exchanged views on the conflicts in Syria, Israel’s continued strikes on Gaza, and the ongoing peace efforts in the South Caucasus, the directorate reported.

Erdogan, attending the 25th SCO Council of Heads of State in Tianjin, China, continues his diplomatic meetings alongside the main summit.

The discussion at the Meijiang Convention Center was joined by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek, National Defence Minister Yasar Guler, Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacir, Trade Minister Omer Bolat, and Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran.
