Ankara and Tbilisi have committed to closer cooperation for peace in the Black Sea and Caucasus, as President Recep Tayyip Erdogan hosted Mikheil Kavelashvili in the Turkish capital.

Speaking at a joint press conference, Erdogan said the two nations have worked “shoulder to shoulder” to promote stability amid conflicts, referencing the war in Ukraine and Gaza’s humanitarian crisis.

He voiced hope that public support would further strengthen their strategic partnership.

Erdogan also highlighted the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway as “the backbone of the Middle Corridor,” emphasizing its strategic value now that it is operating at full capacity.
