Deadly Russian drone and missile barrage hits Dnipro region, killing three amid widespread destruction

Russia Launches Deadly Missile and Drone Attack on Ukraine’s Dnipro; Civilian Casualties Reported

Russian forces carried out a massive overnight assault on Ukraine’s Dnipro region, firing 27 missiles and launching 235 attack drones in one of the largest coordinated strikes in recent months. Ukrainian air defense systems intercepted the majority of the projectiles; however, 10 missiles and 25 drones broke through, hitting nine separate targets.

According to regional governor Serhiy Lysak, the attack left three civilians dead and six injured, as explosions tore through residential areas and set buildings ablaze. Emergency crews worked through the night to extinguish fires and rescue survivors from the rubble.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack and vowed a strong response, declaring that Russian military-industrial infrastructure, logistics hubs, and airfields would be targeted in retaliation. He emphasized that the war would ultimately return to those who had started it.

The strike comes amid a surge in long-range drone and missile warfare, as fighting continues along the 1,000-kilometer front line. In a related statement, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused Western nations of blocking diplomatic solutions and prolonging the conflict by continuing to arm Ukraine.

The Dnipro assault marks another escalation in the ongoing war, highlighting the intensifying pressure on Ukraine’s air defenses and the increasing toll on civilians far from the front lines.
