Israeli troops pull out of Palestinian town after three-day West Bank raid

Israeli forces withdraw from West Bank town after 3-day raid; settlers launch fresh attacks

Israeli army units pulled out Sunday from the Palestinian town of Al-Mughayyir, east of Ramallah, following a three-day raid that left widespread destruction, witnesses reported. Military vehicles and bulldozers remained positioned near the town despite the withdrawal.

The offensive, which began Thursday, saw dozens of arrests—including a local councillor—and the uprooting of hundreds of olive trees. Authorities also ordered the removal of nearly 300 dunams of farmland, citing security concerns linked to settlement expansion.

Meanwhile, illegal Israeli settlers staged coordinated assaults on Palestinians and their property in Hebron, Jericho, Ramallah, and Nablus, according to rights groups. Palestinian figures say settlers carried out 466 attacks in July alone, killing four people and displacing Bedouin communities.

Since October 2023, at least 1,014 Palestinians have been killed and more than 7,000 injured in the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. The International Court of Justice has deemed Israel’s occupation and settlement activity illegal under international law.
