Erdogan praises UK’s Starmer for position on Palestinian statehood

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has congratulated British Prime Minister Keir Starmer for his recent statements in support of recognizing the State of Palestine.
In a phone call on Monday, the two leaders discussed bilateral ties between Türkiye and the United Kingdom, along with wider regional and global developments, according to the Turkish Communications Directorate.
Erdogan stressed that the humanitarian situation in Gaza has reached a critical stage, saying that the international community must move beyond expressions of concern and take concrete steps. He underlined the need to compel Israel to agree to a ceasefire and work toward a two-state solution.
The president also highlighted Türkiye’s continued delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, its support for mediation initiatives, and its backing of ongoing ceasefire negotiations.
