Türkiye to reopen transport routes with Syria: minister

Türkiye is moving forward with modernisation efforts to ease border crossings with Syria, boost trade, and enhance safety, Trade Minister Ömer Bolat has announced.

Speaking at a roundtable meeting on Tuesday with Syrian Economy and Industry Minister Nidal Al-Sha’ar, Bolat said that Aleppo is poised to become a major logistics hub as Syria’s transport corridors are reactivated.

“Our trucks will no longer have to undergo transhipment or trailer changes at the Syrian border,” he stated, noting that smoother crossings will accelerate commerce and strengthen regional ties.

Bolat emphasised that Syria’s resilience and productivity will drive recovery across industry, agriculture, manufacturing, and services. Türkiye, he added, stands ready to contribute with its companies’ expertise in infrastructure, construction, banking, and manufacturing.

“Ankara is prepared to make its strongest contribution to Syria’s recovery, reconstruction, and rebuilding process,” Bolat said.
