Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has made his first post on NEXT Sosyal, Türkiye’s rapidly growing homegrown social media platform, which has already surpassed one million users.
Quoting poet Erdem Bayazit’s Soon the Day Will Rise — “A flower sprouted between concrete walls” — Erdogan asked followers, “Are you ready?” His message included the hashtag “We’re starting” along with emojis of the Turkish flag, the Earth, and a rocket.
The platform’s milestone was announced on Saturday by Selcuk Bayraktar, head of the TEKNOFEST Executive Board and the T3 Foundation Board of Trustees, which led the project’s development.
Marketed as a “clean and secure” alternative to global platforms, NEXT Sosyal has quickly climbed to the top of mobile app store rankings, recently becoming the most popular free app in the “social network” category.
Since its beta launch, the platform has expanded rapidly, offering users a space to share thoughts and content on news, technology, lifestyle, and current events. Erdogan’s debut provided a symbolic boost, underlining Türkiye’s push to strengthen its digital sovereignty and promote locally developed platforms.
