Türkiye Declares Israeli Annexation Vote ‘Null and Void’ Under International Law

Türkiye Deems Israeli West Bank Annexation Vote Illegitimate, Warns of Regional Fallout
Türkiye has strongly condemned the Israeli Knesset’s vote to annex the occupied West Bank, declaring the move “null and void” under international law and accusing the Israeli government of escalating regional tensions for political survival.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry reaffirmed that “the West Bank is Palestinian land under Israeli occupation since 1967,” and described the annexation vote as an unlawful and provocative act that undermines peace initiatives.
“The Netanyahu government is fuelling new crises each day through violent policies and illegal measures aimed at clinging to power,” the ministry stated, warning that such actions endanger both regional stability and global order.
Ankara urged the international community to take decisive and binding action, stating that “the legal and moral responsibilities of the international system must be met without delay in response to genocidal Israel’s aggression.”
The condemnation comes amid an intensification of Israeli military activity in the Palestinian territories. Since Israel’s latest military offensive in Gaza began in late 2023, nearly 1,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 7,000 injured in the West Bank alone, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
Türkiye also cited the 2024 ruling by the International Court of Justice, which deemed Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory illegal and called for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
