Türkiye and Vietnam have officially signed a defence cooperation agreement during the International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF) 2025, marking a significant step toward strengthening bilateral military and industrial ties.
The protocol was signed between the Turkish Ministry of National Defence and Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defence at the prestigious event in Istanbul.
Turkish Deputy Minister of National Defence Musa Heybet emphasized the strategic importance of the agreement during the ceremony.
“This partnership in defence and security lays the foundation for long-term collaboration across numerous areas,” Heybet stated.
He added that Türkiye would fully support Vietnam’s development in air, land, and naval defence capabilities, with contributions from both Turkish defence firms and government institutions.
Vietnamese Deputy Minister of National Defence, Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, hailed the moment as a turning point in the relationship between the two countries.
“Today marks the beginning of a new chapter. This agreement will pave the way for broader cooperation, and we are committed to becoming strong allies with Türkiye,” he said.
IDEF 2025, which opened on Tuesday, is one of the world’s largest defence expos. The six-day event is taking place across four major venues in Istanbul: the Istanbul Fair Centre, Ataturk Airport, WOW Hotel, and Ataköy Marina.
The fair is organized by KFA Fairs and receives support from Türkiye’s Defence Industries Presidency (SSB) and the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, serving as a platform for global defence and aerospace leaders to forge new partnerships.
