Trump Promises NATO Weapons for Ukraine, Gives Russia 50 Days to Accept Truce Deal

Trump Sends NATO Arms for Ukraine, Warns Russia of 50-Day Truce Deadline
In a major policy shift, US President Donald Trump has pledged to send advanced weapons — including Patriot missile systems — to NATO countries supporting Ukraine, as part of a move to counter escalating Russian attacks. The announcement follows a brief Pentagon pause in US arms shipments and arrives amid Russia’s heaviest drone and missile strikes on Kiev in years.
Standing beside NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Trump said deliveries will begin “within days,” marking a more aggressive stance toward Moscow. Rutte confirmed the aid will include “massive amounts” of air defense systems, missiles, and ammunition.
Trump also issued a 50-day ultimatum to Russia: agree to a peace deal or face 100% tariffs on trade with its global partners — a threat that could shake Russia’s remaining economic ties.
Meanwhile, Ukraine welcomed the support. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called it a “positive shift,” praising Trump’s envoy Keith Kellogg for promising deeper US-European cooperation in defense production.
Zelenskyy also proposed a cabinet reshuffle, tapping Economy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko to lead Ukraine’s government and strengthen ties with Western partners.
