At least four killed, over 30 injured as Russia launches overnight strikes across Ukraine

Russian attacks overnight have left at least four people dead and more than 30 others wounded across various regions of Ukraine, local officials reported Monday morning.

Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said two of the fatalities occurred in the eastern Sumy region, while another person was killed in the southern Odesa area. A fourth victim, a man, was confirmed dead in the Kherson region, according to the local governor’s office.

More than 30 people were reported injured in the assaults, with most of the casualties concentrated in the eastern Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

In Kyiv, Russian drone strikes hit multiple buildings, but no deaths were reported in the capital, the city’s mayor announced on Telegram.

Russia claims drone interceptions

Meanwhile, Russia’s defense ministry stated it had shot down 91 Ukrainian drones overnight. According to the ministry, eight of these drones were intercepted over the Moscow region, with the rest brought down in Russian regions bordering Ukraine.

These developments follow Russia’s largest drone and missile barrage against Ukraine since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022. On Friday, Moscow launched approximately 530 drones along with a dozen missiles aimed primarily at Kyiv, an onslaught that killed at least two people.

Escalating tensions

The latest strikes underscore the intensifying aerial conflict between the two nations, with both sides stepping up drone and missile attacks in recent weeks.
