Over 108 Million Air Travelers Pass Through Türkiye in First Half of 2025

Türkiye welcomed 108.8 million air travelers between January and June 2025, according to Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu.

Of these, 46.6 million were domestic passengers and 62.2 million flew on international routes, including direct transit passengers.

Aircraft traffic also remained strong. In June alone, 89,696 domestic and 91,608 international flights were recorded, bringing the total number of aircraft movements for that month to 223,459, including overflights.

Between January and June, the total number of aircraft landing or taking off reached 454,841 on domestic routes and 410,226 internationally, resulting in an overall movement of 1.1 million flights, a 5.7% increase compared to the same timeframe in 2024.

Minister Uraloglu noted that this six-month passenger figure exceeds the combined population of numerous EU countries, including Austria, Belgium, Portugal, and Sweden. He also stated that air cargo handled during this time amounted to 2.3 million tons.


Istanbul Airports Lead the Nation

Istanbul Airport remained Türkiye’s busiest hub, serving 39.1 million passengers8.1 million on domestic and 30.9 million on international flights.

Sabiha Gokcen Airport, also in Istanbul, followed with 22.1 million passengers, including 9.6 million domestic and 12.5 million international travelers.

Tourism-centered airports in Izmir, Antalya, Mugla, and Alanya hosted a combined 23.9 million passengers in the same period, with 8.5 million flying domestically and 15.4 million on international routes.
